In “Judge Not,” Kevin DeYoung does a good job of explaining Jesus’ statement in Matthew 7:1, “Judge not, that you be not judged.” It is a verse often pulled out of context to stop Christians from making moral judgments, when it is actually a warning against judgmentalism, something quite different.
Yet just because people can misuse a verse does not give us a reason to throw out that verse. The fact is that Matthew 7:1 is a necessary corrective that many Christians need to hear.
